Verano is an upscale community that offers some of the newer homes in Cathedral City, California. Amenities include a recreational clubhouse as well as close proximity to parks, stores, restaurants, and entertainment.
The Palm Springs Unified School District serves this community with facilities like Rio Vista Elementary School, James Workman Middle School, and Cathedral City High School. There are also several private institutions like Desert Chapel Christian, King’s Schools of the Desert, and Temple Isaiah’s Early Childhood Center.
There are several golf resorts in this region and the closest one to Verano is the Desert Princess Club which a 27-hole championship golf course and nine tennis courts. There are ten parks in this city including Agua Caliente Park, Memorial Park, Second Street Park, Soccer Park, and Town Square.
There are many shopping centers in this region including the Cathedral City Marketplace, the Cathedral Plaza Shopping Center, and the Rimrock Shopping Center. It is only half an hour to El Paseo shopping in Palm Desert.
Cathedral City is the second largest in Coachella Valley and was named for Cathedral Canyon. This city was created in 1925 as a housing subdivision and then finally incorporated in 1981. The Agua Caliente Indian Reservation makes up a third of Cathedral City as well as much of Palm Springs. This is a culturally diverse community with support for the LGBT population.
